Lesotho boasts a good network of surfaced roads, ensuring that most main sites of interest can be reached in any vehicle. Notable exceptions are Sehlabathebe National Park and the Tsatsane Bushman Paintings, both of which require 4x4, and will provide keen off-roaders with an exciting taste of road conditions as they were a couple of decades ago.
Accommodation and restaurants can be found in most towns and other major places of interest, though the choice tends to be less varied than it is in countries with a more developed tourist industry.
A safe and health travel destination, Lesotho is situated between 28° and 31° south and 27° and 30° east, placing it well outside the tropics, which together with its high elevation ensures it is entirely free of bilharzia and malaria.
